(My) English translation of the marker from Filipino:
Punta Cruz Watch Tower
Built in 1796 under the administration of priests from the Order of Augustinian Recollects, with St. Vincent Ferrer as Patron Saint and protector against attacks from Moro pirates. The tower was made from corals, with a triangular-shaped first floor and the second, hexagonal in design. It survived from destruction during the Filipino-American and Second World Wars, where Japanese forces razed Maribojoc town to the ground in 1944. It was a major example of Spanish military architecture and symbol of craftsmanship by local artisans. Declared as a national historical treasure in 2009.
